THE APPRAISAL PROCESS
A STRAIGHTFORWARD APPROACH TO EQUINE VALUATION
Every appraisal begins with understanding the horse, the purpose if the valuation, and how the appraisal will be used. From there, I gather the necessary information, research the relevant market, and develop a profession, well-supported opinion of value.
Tell Me What You Need
Start by submitting an appraisal request with some basic information about your horse and the reason for the valuation. We’ll determine the intended use, effective date, scope of the assignment, and whether a remote if in person appraisal is appropriate.
INITIAL CONSULTATION:
Getting to Know Your Horse
Once the assignment is established, I’ll collect the information relevant to your horse and the appraisal. This may include registration and pedigree, training history, competition record, photos and videos, veterinary information (if relevant), and purchase or ownership documentation.
DOCUMENTATION:
RESEARCH & ANALYSIS
Understanding the Market
I research the appropriate equine market and analyze relevant comparable horses and transactions while considering the individual characteristics that influence your horse’s value. including age, breeding, condition, training, experience, show record, suitability, and current market conditions.
Your Completed Valuation
After the research and analysis are complete, you’ll receive a professional written appraisal documenting the assignment and the resulting opinion of value. The report will clearly communicate the conclusion and the evidence supporting it, appropriate to the intended use.
